Totem Cat: Spirit of the Northwest. We selected this show theme to blend the rich history of the Northwest Native Americans with our love for our domestic partner, the cat.

The cat totem is one that encourages clear perception, an agile mind and body, strong resourcefulness and independence. The cat can also be a strong challenger, encouraging you to come up with new ideas and visit new places. When a cat becomes predominant in your life, magic and mystery come alive.

It was a great turnout for the show – 400 entries! WOW! The TICA Annual Team put great effort into presenting the fabulous felines to the public in the "Meet The Cats" ring.

A big thank you to all of you who entered their cats and traveled from all over the world. Congratulations to the Best of the Best Winners:

  • Best Cat: Kelloggs Crazy Train
  • Best Kitten: Synergy Nigella
  • Best Alter: TGCA Physius My Valentino of Sirpurrs
  • Best HHP: IW SGM Mike and the Mechanics of Careycats
  • Best HHPK: Bailey
  • Best New Trait: Beauchador Redwitha Twist
  • Best Advanced New Breed: Kitzen Gandolph of Sazikatz

The banquet was spectacular with great food and honoring the wonderful cats with awards they greatly deserved. There were also special awards presented to individuals who worked very hard during the year.

The World Cat Congress was established to promote better understanding and co-operation among the world's major cat associations in matters of mutual interest and concern such as cat legislation and feline welfare which affects all cat lovers, from the pedigree breeder to the pet owner.

Since the first meeting in 1994, the World Cat Congress Annual Meeting has become a regular event (with the exception of 2003). The meeting is hosted by one of the Member organizations and scheduled to coincide with a cat show at the meeting site.

Traditionally the weekend consists of a seminar, which includes an open meeting where the public have an opportunity to raise specific points of concern for discussion with the visiting delegates, a cat show and a closed meeting of the delegates. Wherever possible the visiting delegates have been invited to judge at the cat show.

AllCats Cat Club, a TICA chartered club, is hosting the 2014 World Cat Congress Annual Meeting.

For more information on the World Cat Congress organization, see the World Cat Congress website at www.worldcatcongress.org.

Clubs are starting to use the new TOES system for online entries. It is a wonderful new system that will make entering cat shows much easier for exhibitors AND entry clerks. No more having to fill out an entry form and summary sheet for each show. YOU create your FREE account with your personal information and all the information on your cats and the system stores it. When you want to enter a show, all you have to do is sign in to TOES, go to the show calendar, select the show you want to enter and click "Add New Entry." Simply click on the name of the cat you want to enter and all the information is automatically filled in for you.

Below is a step-by-step walk through to set up your FREE TOES account and how to enter a cat show using TOES. I strongly suggest you create your account now and add any cats you are currently showing.

Thanks to Christian Cherau of the NE region for most of this walk through.

If you have ANY problems or questions about setting up your account or entering cats into the system, please e-mail toes@e-ware.be. We are using TOES for Red River Rascals in October and you will see more and more clubs use the system.

Again, many thanks to Christian Cherau!!

JUDGE, Steve Lawson: Approved Allbreed

I live in Bradenton, Florida. I started loving cats as a child. My first pet was a Maine Coon cat. I don't currently show but I have shown Maine Coons, Persians and Cornish Rex.

My most memorable judging experience was judging behind the Iron Curtain in Budapest, Hungary and Moscow.

The best advice I can give anyone in showing a cat is starting with the TICA Standards and go from there.
