Letter from Vickie
Another show season has ended... and how exciting it
was! While the final results are not published yet, you
can still review the
estimated points online. The final results will be published
July 10th and you can find them online on the Members side
under
Standings.
I want to thank every cat, kitten, alter, household pet
and household pet kitten that was exhibited at our shows
around the world. It's because of you and your fine
felines that
TICA had
a great year despite the hard economic times! You can read
more about a recap of the show season below.
Oh, and here's an "End of Show Season" checklist
for you:
- Order a personalized shirt or other product with
your cat or cattery's name on it through the TICA
Online Store (what a great way to show your TICA pride!)
- Reserve a copy of the
2009-2010 Yearbook - and run an ad and/or photos
of your regional and/or international winner.
- Prepare your giveaways for your winning cat at your
regional awards banquet (and
international banquet!) - see some tips below...
Now that you've checked off your list, please enjoy
the rest of our newsletter.
Congratulations to everyone,
Vickie Fisher
President

Ideas for Great Award Gifts
Isn't it exciting to proudly hand out "goodies"
at your regional awards banquet and/or international awards
banquet? Everyone loves receiving them, and you enjoy putting
them together with your cat's name and title on it.
But, are you running out of ideas? Well, here are a few
ideas for your cat's award gift!
Wheat grass "Grow Your Own" Kit:
Order wheat grass seeds in bulk. Then divide them in small
bags (cellophane is best). Add a card with your cat's
photo on the front and instructions on how to grow your
own wheat grass in a pot with the seeds. You can find bulk
wheat grass seeds online.
Grow your own catnip kit:
Instead of wheat grass seeds, order catnip seeds and grow
your own! Your cat will love you when you snip off a leaf,
rub it on your fingers and let your cat lick your fingers.
He'll be in "kitty heaven".
Homemade, natural treats:
All you have to do is bake some wonderful treats, and then
put them in a small bag. Tie a ribbon, attach your cat's
card, and voila! You have a great gift! You can find several
different, all-natural treats that are easy to make, and
loved by cats at the
Cat Food Recipe Cookbook. It's a free download and
has great snacks that your cat will love all year long!
Every owner will appreciate these natural, good-for-your-kitty
gifts! By the way, these ideas are great gifts all year
long! If your club is hosting a show, think about them as
giveaways to exhibitors or as prizes along with ribbons
or plaques!

The History of Rommel
Just a little history, Rommel was Erwin Johannes Eugen
Rommel (15 November 1891 - 14 October 1944), popularly known
as the
Desert Fox, was a famous
German
Field Marshal of
World War II.
He was a highly decorated officer in
World War I, awarded the
Pour le Merite for his exploits on the
Italian front. In World War II, he further distinguished
himself as the commander of the
Ghost Division during the
1940 invasion of France. However, it was his leadership
of German and Italian forces in the
North African campaign that established the legend of
the Desert Fox. He is considered to have been one of the
most skilled commanders of
desert warfare in the war. He later commanded the German
forces opposing the
Allied cross-channel
invasion in Normandy.
