HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
Well, we've ushered in another year and you know
what that means? We only have four months left in the current
show season.
The new year also has a lot of really exciting things
happening at TICA for our members, breeders and exhibitors...which
you'll find out about more the beginning of February.
Value-added services that will make your experience with
TICA better across the board!
This issue I just want to make sure you know some important
information (and some fun information...like did you know
that cats DO make New Year's resolutions?!) to usher
in the new year. Next month...just wait...you'll be
thrilled to read what we have in store for you.
Happy New Year,
Vickie Fisher
TICA President

Even Cats Make New Years Resolutions
You thought only you made New Years resolutions, that
MAYBE you keep. Well, cats do too. Here are the top ten
resolutions felines say they purred at the stroke of Midnight
on January 1, 2011.
- I will not perch on my human's chest in the
middle of the night and stare into her eyes until she
wakes up.
- I will not puff my entire body to twice its size
for no reason after my human has finished watching a
horror movie.
- I will not slurp fish food from the surface of the
aquarium.
- I will not lean way over to drink out of the tub,
fall in, and then pelt right for the box of clumping
cat litter. (It took FOREVER to get the stuff out of
my fur.)
- I will not use the bathtub to store bugs for late-night
snacks.
- I will not assume the patio door is open when I
race outside to chase leaves.
- I will not stick my paw into any container to see
if there is something in it. If I do, I will not hiss
and scratch when my human has to shave me to get the
rubber cement out of my fur.
- I will not play "dead cat on the stairs"
while people are trying to bring in groceries or laundry,
or else one of these days, it will really come true.
- I will not swat my human's head repeatedly when
she's on the family room floor trying to do sit
ups.
- I will not scream at the can to OPEN OPEN OPEN.

Did You Know...Cats Do Have Personalities Aligned with
the Stars?
Astronomers recently announced a 13th astrological sign,
but even cats know there are only twelve...and like us,
cats DO have personalities that tie to their signs.
Ever have a cat who wants to sit high up on shelves or
counters? Probably an Aries (who if he were outside would
be sitting on the roof so he can keep an eye on his house
and the neighborhood).
Or is your show cat a "diva" who just LOVES
attention? Could be a Virgo who will make sure his paws
are spotless before going in the ring.
If your kitty loves to bury under covers and when called
comes out from under the pile of clean clothes, well, it's
a Moon baby I bet - a Cancer.

"I
My Cat" for Valentines Day
Valentine's Day is around the corner. Has your cat
stolen your heart and is your special Valentine?
Make a card for your favorite cat or for anyone else
you want to say "I Heart You" to.
Or if you want to make your own Valentine's Day cards
you can find antique cat images that are easy to download
and use on your own design.
You can find a good selection by searching in Google
on "Antique Cat Images" or "Antique Cat Valentine
Images".
You'll be surprised what you can find to use for
a custom card. If you're busy like most of us (remember!
It's the end of the show season so we're all cramming
in end-of-season shows on the weekends!) then send ready-made
ecards from the following sites:

Meet the...Cornish Rex
Called the "Greyhound of the cat world" the
Cornish Rex sports a tight, wavy marceled coat and "curls"
that runs from the tip of their eyebrows to the tip of their
tail!
Their large tall ears and soft, big oval eyes blend into
their egg-shaped head giving them a wonderfully expressive
appearance.
Ask an owner what makes them so special and they'll
say their Cornish Rex is Energetic. Enthusiastic. And fun
loving.
