Cats vs Dogs!
I am SO thrilled ... and utterly excited ... to announce
that the American Kennel Club (AKC) has invited TICA to
partner with them at this year's AKC Meet the Breeds®!
The past two years, many of the more than 39,000 attendees
of the event asked "where are the Bengals?" Well, this year,
they'll be in full force with the many other breeds that
TICA recognizes for registration and competition.
This is THE event of the year that gives the public a
chance to not only meet all breeds of dogs that AKC registers,
but for TICA to showcase the many breeds that only we register
worldwide.
You won't have to worry about me NOT keeping you informed,
because it's going to be hard NOT to share every step of
the planning and what fun events we'll be doing along the
way to promote Meet the Breeds.
This is an exciting time to promote cats, the cat fancy
and TICA and build an ongoing relationship with the world's
largest registry of purebred dogs!
See you in Philly for the Annual,
Vickie Fisher
TICA President

Cats Take On the Dogs at Meet the Breeds
TICA has been invited to the American Kennel Club's (AKC)
third annual AKC Meet the Breeds® event in New York
City later this year. More than 160 breeds of dogs and 50
breeds of cats will be on hand on November 19-20 2011 at
the one-of-kind event held at the Jacob K Javits Center.
"We are excited to join forces with the AKC this year
and offer animal lovers in the tri-state area the rare opportunity
to meet more than 50 breeds of cats including the Bengal,
the most popular breed in TICA's world, during the 2011
AKC Meet the Breeds event," said TICA President Vickie Fisher.
"This year kids can pretend they're in the wild and pet
a Toyger cat that resembles a tiger but has the same sweet
nature as a domestic kitten or play with a Cymric cat, the
bunny rabbit of the feline world."
We'll keep you posted as TICA's team works on the event.
In the meantime read more about the event

TICA Cats Wowed the Audience at the London Pet Show
More than 13,000 people (8,000 in the first three hours
of the first day of the event!) attended the UK's prestigious
London Pet Show where TICA was invited to exhibit at the
show held at the National Hall in Olympia, London on May
7 and 8. Our Western Europe region led by Regional Director
Martin Wood was on hand in the Cat Zone along with the Governing
Council of the Cat fancy (GCCF) to discuss the more than
50 breeds of cats recognized by TICA.
The agility team led by Valerie Davidson and Sue Hart-Jones
not only ran their cats - Fly and four-month-old Whitie
- through the course several times during the two-day show,
but they also landed an hour-long interview on the BBC "The
One Show" on May 6th. Fly and Whitie both completed the
course on numerous occasions without incident and other
cats from various exhibitors also tried the course during
the second day of the show. "Poor Whitie was so tired in
the afternoon he just went to bed leaving Fly to do the
afternoon. We finished at 4.30pm went home and both Fly
and Whitie went to sleep," said Valerie.

Meet the ... Bombay
Sleek. Shiny. Like a highly polished patent leather shoe.
Want to take a guess? If you said the Bombay, you're correct!
This compact cat with round, copper penny gold eyes resembles
the mini-panther that the late Nikki Horner had in mind
when she began developing the breed in 1953.
The Bombay is a man-made breed developed from crossing
a black American Shorthair with a sable Burmese. Sweet,
loving, and inquisitive, this medium-sized cat is easy to
care for and perfect for the family who wants a cat that
will want to be with them.
