Clean your registry

In some instances it is possible to get TkScore running again by cleaning up the registry. Perform the following steps:

1. Uninstall TkScore.
2. Start the app Registry Editor (Start >> Windows Administrative Tools >> Registry Editor).
3. Choose Edit >> Find Next (F3).
4. In the field Find what, enter tkscore.
5. Choose Find Next.
6. Delete any entries you find.
7. Restart your computer.
8. Follow the instructions for Installing TkScore.

Hopefully TkScore will run again :)

Create a new user account

The issues with TkScore starting up seem to be related to settings for the local user (as also suggested by the registry editing approach working). If you would rather not mess with the Windows registry and don't mind running TkScore with a different local user account on your computer, this is a relatively easy fix. Please perform the following steps:

1. Uninstall TkScore (if it is currently installed).
2. Set up a local user:
   Start >> Settings >> Accounts >> Family & other people >> Other people >> Add someone else to this PC >> I don’t have this person’s sign-in information >> Add a user without a Microsoft account >> specify user name without a password >> click on account >> Change account type >> account type Administrator >> OK
3. Log on to your new local user account.
4. Follow the instructions for Installing TkScore.

Reset your Windows installation

This is a bit of a harsh approach but can be considered if you are having other issues with your Windows 10 installation anyway. Most Windows 10 installations come with the option of completely resetting the installation - basically starting with Windows from scratch. Depending on how you do this, you will "lose" all your files and installed programs. Other options will automatically try to make sure all your files stay available - but in any case you should make sure you back up all files just to be safe. Once you have reset Windows and loaded back your files you can also follow the instrucations for Installing TkScore - as long as you don't run the installer first.

Install a Virtual Machine (VM)

Another option is to install a Virtual Machine for Windows 7 and have it running on your computer. Basically this enables you to run Windows 7 like it is a program and then install TkScore on your Windows 7 VM. While this seems to work just fine, it requires several Gigabytes of downloads and in some cases there might be issues with the installation which can be tricky to resolve. If you already are familiar with Virtual Machines and have something like VirtualBox running, this could be an "easy" solution as well.
